I had edited these photos weeks ago, but didn’t get round to uploading them – obviously more important things to do (or feeling lazy). D8188 was on shunting duties, which included swapping the sleeping cars at Arley. When I reached Arley the 20 had completed some of the shunting and was at Highley, there was [...]

Update 376. 3802, D821, 5164 & 43106 at “Arley-on-Sea”. 28/08/10
It’s “Seaside Special” weekend & we were at the “seaside”, oh alright – it was just Arley. Just a few photos of the trains, but also one of the backdrop behind the beach (sorry, sandpit!)

Here is the backdrop:-
Update 375. 50135, 3802, 7812 & 46443 at Arley, 14/08/10
I’ve been a bit slow uploading photos recently, but here are some from a week ago taken at Arley. A dull day meant not too many people on the platforms, so the chance for some “flowery” shots, otherwise a typical summer Saturday – no sun!!

Something different, makes a change from trains:-
Update 374. 3802 at Arley on its first passenger working, 07/08/10
Most of the photos in this update are of 3802, but 50135 & 5164 are also seen. 7812 was tender-first, so I didn’t bother with it!

No doubt as to where this was taken!
Update 373. 3802 at Bewdley on a gauging run, 05/08/10
As mentioned in an earlier posting, 3802 was seen at Bewdley today on a gauging run before being cleared to haul trains. The photos show it arriving and passing very slowly through platform 1. It then reversed slowly through platform 3 as I was back in the buffet eating ham egg & chips, before they [...]
Update 372. D821 on Footplate Experience & “Prince” inside The Engine House. 30/07/10
You may have noticed that I haven’t been taking so many photos at the SVR recently. It is not easy finding something that hasn’t been photographed before, so sometimes I just watch the trains go by. Occasionally I grab the camera at the last minute, as happened today when I noticed 43106 with a wreath [...]
Update 371. 71000 Duke of Gloucester, on The Midland Tornado climbing the Lickey Incline. 26/07/10
Originally planned for 60163 “Tornado”, which currently has problems with some of the firebox stays, 71000 “Duke of Gloucester” was the replacement loco. The tour started in London, 71000 coming on at Gloucester and hauling the train back to London via Leicester & Bedford. The load was probably too heavy for a single steam loco [...]
Update 370. Ffestiniog Railway “Prince” at The Engine House, Severn Valley Railway. 21/07/10
When I arrived at Highley, 7714 had already been moved out of The Engine House and “Prince” was on a low-loader and would be unloaded later in the day. Only a couple of photos of “Prince”, the others are of the service trains hauled by 4566, 5764 & 7812. Also seen are D3022 & 7714. [...]
Update 369. 6201 & 47773 on The Midlander in the Birmingham area, 17/07/10
Couldn’t resist this one, the chance to see the train at Small Heath, catch a local train into Birmingham and walk to Curzon Street to see it again. All I needed was the local train to run to time – and it did, I was there with just minutes to spare.
Steam locos are not allowed [...]
Update 368. New arrival 3802 is moved to Bridgnorth, 15/07/10
As mentioned in my e-mail posting from earlier in the day, 3802 was hauled to Bridgnorth after arriving at Kidderminster on Wednesday. I saw it first at Kidderminster, coupled to D8188, then again at Bewdley as they waited for the preceding train to clear the section. Also included are some photos inside Mk1 E3083 showing [...]
