Just “ordinary” photos taken over a couple of hours, at or near Arley station.

Out before breakfast to Sandwell & Dudley to see the DRS37s on the Spitfire Railtours train from Crewe to Eastleigh. A few “units” helped pass the time as I waited.
One of the photos here:-
Just before lunch, 5164 headed south towards Arley, then 7812 was on the next northbound. At the station, 46443 was on the Footplate Experience, crossing with D1062 on a train from Bridgnorth. Next trains seen were 5164 again, crossing with 7714 from Bridgnorth.
Forecast was “full sun”, find out the shorts – and it was “full dull” until we got home, typical!
Sorted the photos, but no captions yet – bit of a rush job.
Mixture of sun & shade, at least it was dry though.
Below is a shot as they headed for Eastleigh
Seen passing Sandwell & Dudley this morning, a few minutes late, but just before the 07.49 local would have blocked the shot.
Thought I was heading to Stafford with time to spare today. Had just got off a Voyager, when I noticed a train on the other track – it was the 47 hauling the 87s. Dashed down the platform beyond the Voyager and managed a few shots, barely had a chance to check the settings on the camera. I wasn’t expecting them until 15.14 but they were through at about 13.30.
More photos to sort now, haven’t even finished those from yesterday yet!
It may be daily running, but I don’t seem to be getting over to the Railway any more often.
Lunchtime at Bewdley, 42968 was working a train to Bridgnorth, then half an hour or so later 7812 worked one to Kidderminster.
Late afternoon at Kidderminster, D1015 arrived to take 73006 to Eastleigh. 46443 had replaced 42968 on one of the trains.
Photos to sort………
Last week I was at Leamington, this week another 3 DRS locos were heading to Eastleigh & I chose Walsall as the closest station to see them. The plan was then to head to Lichfield to see another working, which unfortunately was cancelled. I was on the way to Lichfield before I heard of the cancellation – that is the reason for a photo at Lichfield.
Several freights were seen with Class 66s in charge, also 67005 & 6006 at Tame Bridge.
Most of my time has been spent posting to this blog and it has been some weeks since I updated the old sites. So, this evening, I spent an hour or so updating the “Midlands” web site. Amazing how difficult it is when you haven’t used certain software for a while, you really have to rack your brain!
A “Thomas” weekend, and it was rather wet. We walked quickly to the station from the car park on the other side of the river, bought our sandwiches, sheltered from the rain & had our lunch. 5164 was on a train from Kidderminster, running bunker first, D444 was on a train from Bridgnorth. A few photos of the diesel & then quickly back home.
I have a nasty habit of starting something new before I finish ongoing projects, and true to form, here we go again……..
Just got my slide scanner working again! When the pc failed last year I packed away the scanner, as it was cluttering up the desk. So, today, I felt it was time to try & get it working again.
The old photos are very time-consuming to edit, as the camera settings always seemed to be incorrect, marks in the sky need removing etc. etc. but I think the photos are worth showing.
One of the photos is shown here, APT 370004:-
The Welsh Marches Express made one of the fastest climbs of Old Hill bank I have ever seen. Double-headed with 2 Castles and a load of 10 coaches it was a relatively easy task, but still impressive.
Needless to say, there was brilliant sunshine about 10 minutes before the train was due, but of course it turned “full dull” for the passing of the train. At least it wasn’t raining though.
I’ve played around with the photos – “portait” shows off the exhaust, but makes the train much smaller and “landscape” increases the size of the train but chops off much of the exhaust. So, you have the best of both worlds. The light was so poor and some of the photos are slightly blurred, but never mind, they are worth showing.
