The Welsh Marches Express made one of the fastest climbs of Old Hill bank I have ever seen. Double-headed with 2 Castles and a load of 10 coaches it was a relatively easy task, but still impressive.
Needless to say, there was brilliant sunshine about 10 minutes before the train was due, but of course it turned “full dull” for the passing of the train. At least it wasn’t raining though.
I’ve played around with the photos – “portait” shows off the exhaust, but makes the train much smaller and “landscape” increases the size of the train but chops off much of the exhaust. So, you have the best of both worlds. The light was so poor and some of the photos are slightly blurred, but never mind, they are worth showing.
