A few photos taken in Haden Hill Park in the snow, also showing the House & Hall.

It’s not easy taking photos when walking KC in the snow. She doesn’t stand still for long, and with the lead in one hand I can’t easily adjust the camera settings. Still, these have come out quite well under the circumstances.
Here she is…..
These photos were on an old site of mine which was deleted a year or so ago. As there is another railcar event at the SVR this autumn, it seemed a good idea to upload the photos again.
A mix of liveries in this shot
A few brief details of the event at the SVR this autumn:-
Always a bonus when a steam special runs via Kidderminster. Must admit I’m not used to taking photos of fast trains, and this one wasn’t hanging around! The return run was in darkness, but you still get the “sound” on the climb to Rowley Regis.
Plenty of snow & steam here…..
After having problems with running round at Highley yesterday, the trains today were top & tailed. We travelled from Bewdley to Highley, for lunch at The Engine House.
It’s great getting photos in the snow, but I think I’ll be happier when the days are warmer.
7812 passing The Engine House, with 43106 at the rear:-
Photos at Kidderminster, Bewdley & Arley – and it was very cold!
The freezing conditions caused problems at Highley & 7812 on the first train was unable to run round. 42968 was detached from the second train at Bewdley & hauled the first train back from Highley, with 7812 at the rear. The next service from Kidderminster was top & tailed, but the final service ran with just 7812, so by this time the loop was operable.
Managed both the locos in this shot
After the heavy snowfall, and walking the dog around the park, I decided to take a few photos of trains at Old Hill. It was a pity the coal train to Rugeley was no longer diverted via this route, as the only trains would be DMUs, but at least it is of railway interest.
The snow was probably about 4″ deep in places.
43106 was carrying an unusual headboard, apparently it was for the final footplate turn for Alun Rees. 46443 & 5164 were the other locos seen half-an-hour later.
Here is a photo with the headboard mentioned above:-
Must be one of the shortest updates ever, just 2 photos. 43106 was ready to pull out as we arrived, so the only train I saw was 5164 due at Bewdley 30 minutes later.
I won’t bother with adding a photo here as it will be almost the same as previous shots!
First photos of the New Year, 43106 & 5164 at Bewdley. I seem to be rather slow in adding these, but they are very similar to others taken during recent weeks, so “just for the record”.
As a change from trains, this Vauxhall in the station car park looked very smart:-
Following a recent comment about RSS feeds not working, I tried to find out more about them. My laptop, with Vista & Windows Mail cannot be set up for RSS feeds, but would be if updated to Windows Live Mail, but my motto is – if it ain’t broke, leave well alone. The strange thing is, I have a Linux netbook which can accept RSS feed e-mails and they seem to come through without a problem.
The feeds seem to be updating in my Firefox bookmarks, so maybe it was one of those occasional problems of a computer system throwing a wobbly somewhere (using technical terms!)
Saturday didn’t go as planned! We went to Arley for lunch & to see the 2 trains cross, but the kiosk wasn’t open so no sandwiches or cuppa. It was too cold to hang around just to wait for the trains so we headed for Bewdley, arriving just in time to see 43106 depart on the 12.29. The next train we saw was 5164 on the 1pm. At least we were able to get something to eat & drink at the station but having KC with us meant we were eating outside.
Sunday, the plan was just Bewdley, and without KC we could sit inside the buffet to eat. 43106 & 5164 were on the same trains as Saturday, with 46443 on the 1pm to Highley only.
Apparently it was the last day for Alun Rees on the footplate on the Sunday and 43106 was carrying “The South Wales Pullman” headboard. Also, 42968 was on the Stourport branch siding near Bewdley South box, having had problems the previous day.
