A set of 41 photos from this rally, showing the commercial vehicles. I’ve already added descriptions wherever possible, can’t guarantee the accuracy though.
A few Land Rovers, including a small one……
DMU to Arley, then after my lunch I was planning to continue to Highley, but a change of plan when I heard a diesel approaching – it was D8059. The Class 20 went into the sidings and waited for the next 2 trains to cross, which were the DMU and 7812 on the diner. Afterwards the 20 shunted the Siphon to the other siding, then moved the “grotto” coaches towards the north end of the siding.
46443 was working the third set, arriving from Kidderminster as I waited for the return of 7812 to take me back to Bewdley. Once off the train, it did not seem very long before I heard the sound of the 20 again as it was approaching Bewdley running light engine.
Photos from yesterday & today will follow later.
Highley for lunch today, up on the DMU and back on the other train, hauled by 7812.
At Bewdley, it looked like 46443 was being prepared for working on Sunday.
63 photos and quite a good variety of cars. I have found the programme and will try & add the registrations and vehicle details later, but knowing my track record there are bound to be some I cannot identify. Feel free to let me know if I make mistakes or to help with information
This one is an Alvis Speed 20
Built 1914. Rebuilt with a bus body

It has been over a year since I last went to a traction engine rally and the only “road vehicles” I seem to take photos of these days are those seen at events on the Severn Valley Railway. As I have thousands of photos from the rallies, it seems a shame not to look back through them occasionally & add some of them to these pages.
There is no real plan of action at the moment. I’m hopeless at identifying cars & lorries, but have a good reference book for steam road vehicles, so that is a good place to start. A few minutes ago I added a post with a photo of a Sentinel steam wagon/bus, it is the same size as the train photos, which seem to fit these pages well. There is also a link to other photos of that vehicle as seen in the gallery.
As I only see trains 2 or 3 times a week, perhaps on the other days I’ll post a photo of a road vehicle. It might spur me on to sort through the many photos that have never been uploaded or perhaps even organise the ones with no captions in the gallery. We’ll see how it goes.
Class DG4P built 1932. Originally built with a flat back, during 2003/4 it was rebuilt to look like an original Sentinel steam bus.
Seen at the Great Dorset Steam Fair.
I usually manage to miss 6M67, so as the Class 47 was also working to Worcester it was worth a visit to try & see both trains. This week it was a success, but I was surprised when it ran straight through Worcester, as whenever I try to see it locally it is usually held until much later, passing through my area when it is too dark for photos. Also, I was pleased to see “James the Engine”, last time I saw the loco it was in the usual DRS livery.
47749 was moving some wagons from Long Marston to Llanwern. With a couple of HSTs and the empty steel train from Round Oak to Margam, it was a pleasant few hours out.
The photo here has to be 6M67….
