Didn’t have the camera with the zoom lens today, so shots across the river are a bit distant, but it adds to the variety. Didn’t get them all chimney-first today, but 3 out of 4 isn’t bad.
No sun for this shot!

Most of my photos of this loco were taken as it passed The Engine House, so not much variety, but I have chosen a few of them. If you want to see more, the “search” facility in the gallery will find them.
Powerful loco, but has a very quiet exhaust compared with the usual SVR locos
After months of wet, cold or miserable weather, we’re back in the routine of taking KC with us for a walk by the river. Still a bit cold for sitting out at the station, but can’t complain with 3 trains running. Forecast was for full sun today, but they got it wrong again!
All locos were chimney-first when we saw them, makes a change
Looking very smart once again, a few photos of her taking life easy
She’s a cutey!

The late running Avonmouth to Rugeley coal train beat me to Old Hill station. I had less than 10 minutes to get to the station after reading it had passed through Kidderminster 15 minutes earlier. There was no banker & it was moving slowly at roughly 10 – 15mph.
Link to photos, only 2 (and poor quality!)
Not the best place to take a photo, but I had no choice…
Just missed seeing the train as we arrived for lunch, but it wasn’t too long before it returned from Kidderminster. Back at Bewdley, the loco uncoupled, ran round the stock etc. before heading off to Kidderminster again.
Having propelled out of the station, it then runs into platform 2…
Other than that, it was just an ordinary day. Had a walk around the park, eat chicken & rice, spent a lot of time looking out of the window, curled up asleep in an armchair or on the settee next to my mum or dad.
Wonder what tomorrow will bring…..
Following on from the 5786 album, is a set of photos showing 78019 at the Spring Reunion Gala. I remember this loco at Bridgnorth for many years in “Barry scrapyard” condition, it looks very different now!
Here is a shot of the loco passing The Engine House…
Photos from the final day of the Gala, with brilliant weather all day, unlike Saturday. I make no apologies for spending much of my time at The Engine House, again, but standing around in the cold all day in the middle of nowhere does not appeal to me & I like to be close to a hot cuppa!
Must say I’ve enjoyed sorting through the photos. At times it was a challenge taking shots in poor light or against the sun, but I’m pleased with the results. At least all photos now have a number to identify the loco, but it will take a while to complete the rest of the comments.
It’s only right to show one of the visitors here…
Over the years I have photographed many locos that have visited the SVR. “Searching” the gallery will show all the photos (provided I have added captions, of course) but this may show either too many, or some not so good photos – the answer to this is an album for each of the locos.
An easy album to start with is for 5786, unfortunately it only ran for 2 days during the weekend, but at least all the photos of it have now been uploaded.

…and the sun shone all day! As yesterday, I parked at Arley & caught the train to Highley, but making sure I was back at 12.00 to meet Margaret & KC for a sandwich. This was KC’s first visit to the railway for many weeks, she doesn’t like sitting in waiting rooms near a fire that crackles & we don’t like sitting out in the cold with her. Easy solution is to leave her at home, but with warmer weather hopefully coming soon – we’ll all be happy.
5786 did not run today, due to some problem, 5764 took its place and 46443 stood in for 5764. After lunch I headed back to Highley & The Engine House, for several reasons – it is busy there with the local trains shunting, making the most of not having KC – which prevents me going in and also it provides warmth whilst waiting for the next train. So, I make no apologies for more photos from Highley.
Tomorrow I will start sorting photos from today.
It was a dull day on Saturday, but I’ve sorted through the photos and uploaded the better ones which show the trains seen during the day. It was a challenge to get reasonable results – but that’s half the fun, if the sun always shone it would be all too easy. Basically the same locos as the previous day but with 7802 standing in for 78019 on the first round trip.
You’ll see that Saturday has its own album, as does Friday now – see how easy I make it for you!
Unfortunately 5786 failed & didn’t run on the Sunday, so here is a shot of it running with 5764…..
