This was an unusual working, 47798 headed to Kidderminster from Burton to collect the support coach that used to run with Taw Valley, then it headed to Carnforth to drop the coach before continuing to York. I filmed it first at Stourbridge as it headed south, then at Old Hill on the return journey.

At least it’s going uphill in this video – downhill shots are so uninteresting! Only problem was a DMU passes as the Chiltern train approaches, could’ve been worse I suppose.

I’ve started on the videos for the third day of the gala. This playlist is a collection of long shots filmed just north of Arley from the other side of the river. It’s a bit different from the normal videos with the trains hidden behind trees part of the time, away from stations and in a peaceful part of the valley. Locos are:- 1501, L92, 34053, 4270, 1450, 2857, 90733 & 1054.

Probably one of the last Class 68 training/test runs to Stourbridge, as the new locos will be replacing the Class 67s any time now. I know it looks very similar to another video of 68012 here, but the choices at the station are limited.

It’s not often that I go to Stourbridge in the afternoon, but with the empty steel train AND 56113 within a short space of time it seemed too good to miss. The 56 downhill at Old Hill would’ve been rather boring, as are all the downhill shots there. Also made the most of the Class 153/170 combination at Stourbridge.

Another of the test/training runs from January. First seen rolling down through Old Hill, then at Rowley Regis on the way back to London. 153365 is also seen at the rear of a northbound train at Old Hill – a place you can almost guarantee to be bowled!!

Only one train filmed today, so not very exciting – but it was my first video of that loco.

I’m not surprised this wasn’t added to the blog, it was a rather dull event, and I dont just mean the weather – they just drifted past with very little noise on 6M56 to Crewe.

Yet another missed from the blog, with a couple of 37s as well. Four locos in less than an hour is good going for Stourbridge. The 37s on the test train were only running as far as Kidderminster so I was able to see them on the return as well. The 66s were on the usual morning freights.

I do wish I could keep my blog postings up to date, another one from January that wasn’t added! There was a problem of where to stand as the freight was due & a southbound DMU was likely to be in the way. As you can see the approaching shot was limited by the DMU and then the southbound train appeared before I could choose a better position, that is why I had to move away from the platform edge while still filming.

Some more videos I had uploaded but not published, what am I like!! Yes, it’s the usual Round Oaks, but there is nothing else local to see.

Winter probably isn’t the best time to try this sort of shot, especially when the wind is blowing the wrong way, but it was worth a try as 92214 was a visiting loco. First clip is approaching & departing from Northwood Halt, then second clip is leaving Bewdley & the climb to the tunnel. Final few seconds added at the end show D7029 & D5410 in the yard at Kidderminster. Managed to get Sutton, the baby elephant, in the shot as the train passed the Safari Park.
