“Confined to barracks” or avoid social contact!!

Yes, the virus is causing major problems now. Latest advice for us over 70s is to stay at home. Maybe it will give me a chance to catch up on all those unfinished winter projects, all those photos that have never been uploaded and probably some videos that I have not watched since the day I filmed them.

One new project I have started is to look back through the first videos I uploaded to YouTube and to try and index them. There was a time when a search of my channel would find what I was looking for, but now the search facility is not as good as it used to be. With over 4,000 videos there is a lot to try and remember, in other words I’ve forgotten most of them.

Only made the journey to see the 47, the other 3 locos were a bonus and fortunately rain didn’t stop play. A Voyager and 165005 are also seen. I think it was the first time I have seen a container train run into that loop, last week it sped through on the main.

The 6M56 Berkeley to Crewe was running today, the sun was shining so a good excuse for a walk to the station. I managed to get a shot of 153371 departing as I walked across the footbridge. It was going to be close, the northbound train departed about 3 minutes before the southbound train was due away, and if the 68s were close behind I might be bowled. It worked out well though, a clear view of the 68s. 172338 also seen.

Photos and Video, 57301, 56091 and units, Droitwich 10/03/20

Only managed to post the video link yesterday, but today I have the photos to add as well. Droitwich is a good station for photos with semaphore signals adding interest to what is usually mostly units. 57301 is first seen passing through Lye, then a brief glimpse of it in Droitwich loop in the video. After I got off the train in Droitwich it wasn’t many minutes before the 57 was out of the loop and heading towards the station. Then a few of the usual units before 56091 appeared from the Bromsgrove direction.

57301 was working 0V94 Crewe (supposed to be Warrington) to Long Marston and 56091 with a Railvac was on 6×56 Bescot to Long Marston.

Units seen were 170517, 170633, 172345, 172006, 172212, 172217, 170632 and 172220.

Video, 57301 Lye and 56091, Droitwich 10/03/20

57301 was booked to stop in Droitwich loop which gave me the opportunity to see it twice, the bonus being 56091. Several units also seen. No time to sort out some photos, that will be a job for tomorrow.

Trying a new “contents” plugin

One thing I have always struggled with is making a proper list of photos and linking to them. Years ago I started doing that in this blog but “posts” and “pages” didn’t seem to work so well together in one blog, then I started another blog that concentrated on “pages” instead of regular “posts”.

The next problem was to find a plugin to show the lists. The one I had originally been using had not been updated for years so I searched for a new plugin and found one that does the job quite well. The blog itself has had very little time spent on it in recent years and the list of photos only covers a very small number of my thousands of photos.

Looking back at some of my older videos I realise how poor the quality was, never mind, it’s all a memory from the past.

Don’t often see a Class 33 on a railtour these days so made the effort to see this one. It was The Fenny Crompton, run by the Branch Line Society – 1Z36 Lancaster to Paddington. Running very late earlier in the day it was back on time by the time I saw it. Some other trains also seen – 390136, 158826, 158823 and 350377

57301 was running from Eastleigh to Leicester, seemed a good excuse for a little outing. There were 2 other freights due around the same time along with with a 68 on a passenger working. 66150 and 68014 were the other 2 locos seen, along with 165022.

Mrs. S gets OK to drive again after cataract op.

Hooray, she can now go places again without me having to drive the car!! I’ve had a busy few weeks and not got much done during that time. The winter projects not completed, yet again.
