Another interesting old photo I’ve found, 990 on the climb out of Keighley. A search on the history of the loco tells me it was here in summer 1977. As usual, I have no notes relating to my old photos.

On holiday with my parents, my Dad drove us to Calpe for a holiday. At a guess, this was taken somewhere north of Valencia on a coastal line. I’m sure we drove off the main road towards the coast and crossed the line at a level crossing. It may be 1967 or 68 though, as I remember one year I went with them & I was a learner driver, so over 17. That’s the best I can say for the year.

Taken back in the days when trains only ran to Hampton Loade, 8233 is seen putting on a good display as it leaves Bridgnorth. I’ve noticed a few other photos with 46443 & 193, not sure if they were taken the same day – but I’m sure they’ll be uploaded sometime soon.

I travelled on this tour wwhich started from Bradford & ran to Carlisle via Shap, returning via Settle. 45593 hauled the final leg from Leeds to Bradford, not sure if I have a photo of that. I do have old photos of other BR locos, but not sure if they were taken on this day, something to work on in the future.

Another forgotten photo, probably the final open day at Longmoor. I do have a few more photos of it, also some of the other locos there. It will be a long job to go through all of them.

Haven’t used my scanner for years, but unpacked it a few weks ago & have started scanning old photos, negative & slides. I’ve forgotten most of the photos I took, the quality was awful a lot of the time. Had to borrow my Dad’s camera and sometimes photos weren’t printed & only had films developed – so couldn’t really study the results in great detail. Film was probaly slow speed as well, looking at fast moving trains they always came out blurred.
Checking the Railtour files – https://www.sixbellsjunction.co.uk/60s/680420bn.html it must have been taken at Bolton, as I have a poor shot of a pair of Standard 5s alongside the 8F.
