I think this was the last day of steam at Manningham shed. It was open to the public & I had a walk around & took a few photos. A Brit & a Jubilee were also there, so more photos to work on sometime.

43924 is seen approaching the tunnel on the climb to Haworth, as with all my old photos, year unknown and quality not good – but still a memory for me from many years ago.

It had been such a long time since I last visited Ravensprings Park that when I started scanning some old photos from there I couldn’t remember where I had taken them. As I scanned more photos I began to remember the layout of the site and a quick search confirmed the location. I must try & visit again sometime.

It was one of the locos running at an event there, as usual, took plenty of photos, can’t remember which year though!! Another project to work on – when I have time, at least I enjoy looking through the “forgotten” photos and it will encourage me to scan more old images and try to post some of them.

No visit to Bridgnorth & the SVR was complete without a visit to this miniature railway, just a few miles away. Date will be the early 70s, can’t be more accurate than that at the moment. No doubt there will be photos of some of the other locos to follow sometime.

I visited a few collieries in Wales and was fortunate to see 7754 working at this colliery. I will keep looking for any other reasonable photos of this loco, I did take 4 shots of it as it passed but the negative strip I scanned before this one was of locos in Spain – everything is so random!!

Another one of those photos when I cannot say which year it was taken. Several of us from the Bristol Railway Circle decided to have a walk through Devonshire & Combe Down tunnels on the S&D. As you can see from the photos, the track had been lifted through Midford, but was still in place through the two tunnels. We managed to walk all the way to Radstock, some of the old trackbed had been fenced off & we had to walk through a few “fields”, with cattle in them – roaming across the trackbed. I do have a few more photos, but like many others, poor quality, good memories though. I did count the sleepers in both of the tunnels, made a note of it somewhere!

I lived in Idle for about 5 years back in the 60s & my local route was operated by trolleybuses, the no. 40 from Bradford to Saltaire. The final day was Sunday 26th March, 1972, and I was there for that event. I have a few dozen photos to sort through but have posted one here, escorted by a police car.

Somewhere I’m sure I will find some photos of the 2-6-0T locos which we used to see, but for now, this is all I can find.

I think it was the early 70s and I was on my way to Lundy Island and had to catch a bus from somewhere near the docks in Bristol, to take me to the boat at Clevedon. I came across this unusual “toilet”! just before reaching the bus. A search tells me it was originally a Portsmouth trolleybus, RV9109, no. 58 or 258.

Another interesting old photo I’ve found, 990 on the climb out of Keighley. A search on the history of the loco tells me it was here in summer 1977. As usual, I have no notes relating to my old photos.

On holiday with my parents, my Dad drove us to Calpe for a holiday. At a guess, this was taken somewhere north of Valencia on a coastal line. I’m sure we drove off the main road towards the coast and crossed the line at a level crossing. It may be 1967 or 68 though, as I remember one year I went with them & I was a learner driver, so over 17. That’s the best I can say for the year.
