SVR 6th March, second day of “Reunion” gala

It was a “full dull” sort of day, headed for Arley to catch the first train of the day towards Highley. Most of the time was spent in & around The Engine House, venturing outside only when a train was due. Some time was spent at the station, before catching a train to Arley, and not forgetting to buy a “Highley Slice” before leaving. Stayed at Arley until the next train for Bewdley, but didn’t spend long at Bewdley before returning to Arley & heading home.

7802 had replaced 78019 and worked the 09.00 from Kidderminster, but the problem with the Standard was fixed during the day & it was back in action in the afternoon. Tom’s white buffers on 7802 weren’t quite so clean after the trip to Bridgnorth & back!

More photos from yesterday have recently been uploaded, see link on previous post.

Update 297. Severn Valley Railway Spring Steam Reunion Gala, 05/03/10

I’ve started on the photos, but not done much this evening. As always, I’ve taken loads & it’s not easy omitting photos when most of them have come out well, but I am trying to show the day as I saw it. A brief write-up of my day was in the previous post, so you know which locos were running.

and 78019….

SVR 5th March, first day of “Reunion” gala

Off to Kidderminster to see the first departure – which was 78019. Next away was 5786, then 46443 on a local to Bewdley. Feeling peckish, a sandwich and cuppa tempted us towards Arley, hauled by 61994. Next arrival at Arley was 5164, and from the north 6695 on the goods. 4566 & 5764 then hauled us to Highley for another break of journey. Most of the working locos must have passed us as we watched from The Engine House. Couldn’t even finish lunch without being interrupted by passing trains, but as the sun set behind the trees we decided to catch the local to Hampton Loade behind 5786, where we had a quick change for the Kidderminster train, hauled by 78019.

First batch of photos has just finished transferring from memory card to pc, so I had better get editing. A quick look through the numbers mentioned above, 46443 is missing but was seen & photographed during the day. Anyway, very enjoyable day, with many familiar faces seen on loco footplates & at stations.

Update 296. Locos on the move for SVR Spring Steam Reunion Gala, 04/03/10

D8059 & D8188 were in charge & brought 6695 & 5764 from Bridgnorth to Bewdley, returning with 43106, 46443, 61994 & 7812. It was a stroke of luck that this all happened at lunchtime, otherwise I would have missed it all. 7802 is also seen and 5786 is in the background in some of the shots

Update 295. 20304 & 20301 on 6M56 Berkeley to Crewe at Stafford, 03/03/10

6M56 was running early today, but I was already on the way to see 47739 at Tyseley. Fortunately, the 47 was on time and with only a few minutes to wait for a local train back into Birmingham, I decided to then head for Stafford to see 6M56. Fortunately I made it in plenty of time, and also saw a few other freights.
