I enjoy seeing the older diesels working and with these 2 workings being reasonably local I was only out for about 3 hours.

1Z82 is seen approaching Tyseley
After many weeks the train service is operated as it should be on a Saturday, 3 steam and 1 diesel. 3650 was not required so there was even a spare loco! It was a bonus trip out for KC, as I had taken her round the park in the morning – thinking it was going to be too wet to take her with us. She was tired in the evening!

Good to see 2857 back in service again
The weather was not as dry as we expected, but if you go out prepared for rain it’s not so bad. No diesels today as 4 steam locos were available.

3650 departing from Arley
After see the DRS boat train & a 31 hauled test train earlier in the day at Tyseley, I had to rush out of the house again to see this surprise working. I believe 66303 had been sent to haul the train after 66421 had failed.

Old Hill is a nightmare, downhill trains have a habit of getting in the way!
I didn’t photograph 50135, which was on our train, but managed some photos of 3650 in the rain before catching the train back to Kidderminster. There was a couple of minutes to spare back at Kidderminster to photograph 7812 as it departed on a private charter.

Here is 3650 getting the train on the move at Highley
There were a few test trains out and the only local place to see them all was Water Orton, so that had to be the place to go – even though it is outside the area covered by my pass & I had to fork out some money! The bonus was seeing Colas 56094, looking very smart in the bright livery. One test train from the south west did not appear, but 97302 was a pleasant surprise. The other freight trains seen during the time I was there are also included.
