SVR 4th September

Bewdley today, 5164 arrived from Bridgnorth direction, then 7802 from Kidderminster. Half an hour or so later, 7812 arrived on Footplate Experience after the morning round trip and was due out again in the afternoon with another group of participants.

D3937 was in use, as wagons were being loaded with ash from alongside the loco siding, and I managed a better shot of “TB2” on the side of the cab.

42968 then arrived from Bridgnorth with the third service train, & we went home.

My “home page” improved, I hope!

Perhaps I’m too fussy, but what might look good one day doesn’t look so good the next time you look at it. I’ve been think about changing the appearance of the home page for a long time, but adding photos to a gallery is more interesting than trying to design a page.

Spent many hours today working on it & uploaded it this evening:-

Don’t forget to “refresh” your browser page, otherwise you might still be looking at the old page!!!!

Severn Valley Railway photos, in albums by date.

I’m experimenting with a new way to show SVR photos. The actual photos will stay in existing albums, but will also appear in linked albums, labelled by the date they were taken. Any new photos added will also appear in this new section, but I will try to work through existing albums so that one day all the SVR photos will be displayed this way.

Sounds confusing, maybe, but you can see what I mean from this link:-

Hope you like the idea?

Update 180. 7812 & D3937 at Bewdley on 2nd September

Called in at Bewdley for lunch. Was surprised to see D3937 shunting wagons, another excuse for more photos. I noticed “TB2” on the cabside, probably refers to recent “Thunderbird” duties when a service train failed and the 08 was sent to recover the train. I wasn’t expecting the dining train either, hauled by 7812.

The service trains arriving just after 1pm I didn’t photograph, as they were both “backwards”.

Update 179. Seen at Arley on 31st August – 4936, 7802, 7812, 42968 & D8188

It was the turn for the big lens today, giving me the chance for a long shot across the river and a few different shots at the station. Being a Bank Holiday, there were plenty of people around, even though it was rather a dull day.

Ever had a close look into the firebox? Well I wasn’t really that close, but full zoom from the bridge gives a good shot:-

Update 178. A day out to Oxford for 70013, DRS 37s & the Colas 47s

August 13 found us heading towards Oxford. First stop was at Banbury, where we should have seen a pair of DRS 37s on an Eastleigh to Crewe move. Unfortunately they were running several hours late & we had to continue to Oxford to see 70013 arrive with “The Cathedrals Express”.

We made it with time to spare and after seeing 70013 it was not too long before the DRS locos appeared. It was also good to see a different livery on the passenger trains, as First Great Western don’t run to the Birmingham area, also the HSTs. Quite a few freights were also seen, including the Thursdays only Colas working, with a pair of 47s. On the way home we had to change trains at Leamington, and saw another couple of freights as we waited for our train.
