Rhubarb

We had some rhubarb plants at our previous house, but since moving have missed our rhubarb crumbles. Last year I bought some rhubarb seed and now have 31 plants growing in pots, also gave quite a few away. I took a photo of 28 of them on the 14th March, which can be seen below. Since then they have grown a lot, but some have produced flower heads which I have removed. It will be interesting to see what happens over the coming months. I will add other photos as they continue to grow and hopefully we will get plenty of stalks this summer.

It’s time I started posting in this blog again!!

I didn’t realise it was as long ago as December that I last posted here. Probably spent too much time working on old videos, in fact just counted my uploads to Youtube since the beginning of January and the total is over 120. With lockdown it has been impossible to travel anywhere & there is not much to see locally, but hopefully that will change in the coming weeks when the Severn Valley Railway starts running trains again on April 12th, must make a mental note of that!!

What I will try to do is list all the recent videos uploaded, there have been so many I just can’t remember them, then create some playlists to link all the videos from a gala.

What with lots to do in the garden, I’m going to be busy!!

Making the most of decent weather and some trains to see, another visit to Kidderminster. Filling in time with the unit, but always hoping the train from Bewdley would appear in the background as I was filming, but not this time.

What a lovely surprise, I walked to the station expecting to see the NMT on the test train, but it was top & tail 37s, just like the previous month. Didn’t get bowled either. 1Q15 Derby – Swansea.

It was dark, but 37s on a test train, not to be missed. 1Q16 Swansea – Derby. It was following close behind a stopping train, probably previous signals on amber so it was approaching slowly in case the Cradley signal was red. Once the driver got a clear view of the amber signal the 37s made a great noise as they accelerated through the station, only to shut off soon after passing through the station. Sounded great on the video!!

A trip to Kidderminster on Christmas Eve to film a couple of the Santa trains. As 43106 departed, I noticed D9551 at the other platform, would I see that in action as well???

Not the usual “KC Christmas card” for 2020

2020 has not been a good year, for many reasons, and for KC it was her last one. Her final trip to the vet was on August 17th, but a couple of weeks later I had to call in there again to collect “her”! We had arranged for her to be cremated and she was coming home as a “memory bear”! She will always be with us and now sits with the other teds, suppose you might say we couldn’t “bear” to be without her!! She is the biggest of the bears on the card.

This won’t be the sort of Christmas any of us are used to, but let’s make the most of it.

A visit to Wolverhampton to see the 20s, the 66 was a surprise bonus. The other train I had planned to see was one of the Class 196 on test runs, that will be in another post.

An update on my YouTube ad revenue donations to Severn Valley Railway

It was back in March that I set the option for adverts on my videos. At first the revenue was minimal as with lockdown there was no way to film anything. As the months passed and with more opportunities to film a few trains the revenue increased. At that time, when the revenue increased by a tenner I would send it to the Appeal Fund, but now it saves time to send it on a monthly basis.

At the beginning of September when I donated just over £30 it brought the total to over £120. Now we’re into October and another £30 has been donated bringing the total to over £150. Here’s hoping there will be plenty to film in October???? I reckon I can continue this for a few more months – so enjoy the videos, knowing it’s helping  the Severn Valley Railway!!!
